Catherine (Katie) Jarvis, LMSW

Licensed Master Social Worker

The clients I most frequently work with are queer young adults or adults who have ADHD, are autistic, or are auDHD (both). I have also worked with anxiety, depression, and trauma as co-occurring with these identities. Common goals that my clients have are working through relational or social challenges, managing work and schoolwork, pursuing diagnosis and/or accommodations, and understanding the intersections of neurodivergence with their other identities and the environment and society in which they live.

I currently offer individual therapy using a loose Cognitive Behavioral Therapy model combined with somatic theory and insights from neurobiology. I am interested in furthering my knowledge and practice of somatic therapy, DBT, and trauma-informed therapy. Besides the experience I have working with autistic and/or ADHD people in the past, I have a wealth of personal experience with the realities of living with both. I also try to approach therapy through an anticapitalism lens and focus on the person-in-environment factors of mental health, rather than only focusing on the internal world of my clients. I think it is more important than ever to recognize the impact that compounding systemic injustices have on our clients and to advocate with and for them to get the support and resources that they need.

I want to be able to make therapy more accessible and work to de-stigmatize addressing your mental health, whether that be through formal or informal supports. I believe that everyone deserves a safe space to process and understand their emotions and the way their brain works since our society focuses on individuality and isolation over community and mutual support. Please reach out if you think that myself or any other therapist would be a good fit for you!
