Abdelaziz Hassen, MSW

As a clinical social worker specializing in trauma, particularly with children, adolescents, and young adults aged 10-35, I offer a comprehensive approach to healing and recovery tailored to the unique needs of each individual. My specialty lies in providing culturally sensitive and trauma-informed care that acknowledges the intersectionality of identities, including race, ethnicity, religion, and immigration status.

Here’s how I can help: Assessment and Treatment Planning: I conduct thorough assessments to understand the nature and impact of trauma on my clients’ lives. Using evidence-based practices, I collaborate with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that address their specific needs and goals. Therapeutic Interventions: Drawing from a range of therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, narrative therapy, and expressive arts therapy, I provide a safe space for clients to explore their trauma experiences, process difficult emotions, and learn effective coping skills. Crisis Intervention: In times of crisis or acute distress, I offer immediate support and intervention to stabilize my clients and ensure their safety. This may involve safety planning, connecting them with appropriate resources, or facilitating emergency mental health services. Psychoeducation: I empower clients with knowledge and understanding about trauma, its effects on the mind and body, and the healing process. Through psychoeducation, clients gain insight into their experiences and learn strategies to manage symptoms and promote resilience. Advocacy and Support: I advocate for my clients’ rights and well-being within systems such as schools, healthcare facilities, and social services. I provide support in navigating bureaucratic barriers, accessing resources, and advocating for culturally competent care. Collaboration and Coordination: I collaborate closely with clients’ support networks, including family members, educators, and healthcare providers, to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to care.

By fostering collaboration, I enhance the effectiveness of interventions and promote long-term recovery. Overall, my aim is to empower my clients to heal from trauma, build resilience, and reclaim agency over their lives. I approach my work with compassion, empathy, and a deep commitment to promoting the well-being and flourishing of every individual I serve
